Although Research Trackers and bibliographies were gathered for the 2017-2018 academic year an assessment activity was not performed. For the second year in a row data collected for this time period was largely inadequate with a small number of participating classes and the number of usable submissions lacking.
In the Fall 2017 semester librarian staff, working with Terry Patterson, established rubrics for assessing bibliographies from student papers and installed these in Blackboard Learn. Tests of evaluation within Blackboard were performed and a norming session was tested in December 2017.
In Spring 2018 all assessment in Blackboard shifted to Jasmine Williams and Casey Bailey following the departure of Terry Patterson from UA-PTC. At the close of the Spring 2018 semester Veronica Stewart attempted to pull a sample of papers from the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semester for evaluation, however the Blackboard EAC module that had allowed us to link the Library’s Co-Curricular Learning Outcomes to courses to enable data retrieval had been discontinued by the college. The librarians must ask individual instructors to insert the Library’s Co-Curricular Learning Outcomes into their individual classes. Unless instructors are willing to include co-curricular learning outcomes in their classes, we do not have method to evaluate sources through Blackboard using the established rubrics.
