Early Voting and Election Day

Arkansas early voting begins 15 days before a preferential primary or general election, and 7 days before all other elections (such as run-offs and school elections).

What to Expect at the Polls?

When voting in Arkansas:

  • You will be asked for your Name, Address, and Date of Birth, and must show an approved ID.
  • If it is a primary election, you will be asked which party race you wish to vote in- you are only allowed to vote in one party.
  • You will sign the Precinct Voter Registration List.
  • Then you will be given a ballot or directed to a voting machine.
  • You will have 5 minutes alone in the voting booth to mark your ballot.

For more voter information, visit the Voter Information page on the Arkansas Secretary of State Website.

Election Day Problems?!

If you are challenged by a poll worker, are not listed on the voter roll, or if you do not have the proper identification with you, you still have the right to cast a provisional ballot on election day.

You may be asked to provide ID by a certain date or to sign an affidavit that are you indeed a registered voter when casting a provisional ballot.
