CSE Format: Multi-volume works

Multi-volume works

When citing one volume of a multi-volume set of books or monographs, use the term "Vol." followed by the arabic numerals, as "Vol. 3". The volume number follows the title of the set and precedes the title of the individual volume.

If citing an article in a mulitvolume set, include the volume number after the title of the set (29.3.6.8.2).

                                    

Book that is part of a series (Rosenthal 2001)

Rosenthal LJ, editor. 2001. Mechanisms of DNA tumor virus transformation. New York (NY): Karger. 163 p. (Monographs in virology, vol. 23).

When a book or monograph has a collective title in addition to its own title, it is part of a series (29.3.6.11).
